carry-on around the world in six months

Ia Ora na! Half-time in Tahiti!

Today it’s half-time!! We lucky guys still have three whole months to travel the world and spent already three wonderful months seeing many different countries all with their own particular way of living, their people, languages, food, culture, landscape & nature. Many, many impressions! And, we are also half-way around the globe – with exact 12hours time difference to Germany – discovering the Society Islands of French Polynesia for the next two upcoming weeks!

Yesterday we arrived in Tahiti, only 2 1/2h flight time from Rarotonga. Unlike the Cook Islands, Tahiti and especially its main city Papeete is a busy place with a charming french-shabby look. Thanks to the continuous financial support from Paris, the infrastructure is very much developed with perfect roads, even with huge yachts sitting in the harbour. It felt like Cote d’Azur.

We did not stay too long and took the 15min flight across the ‘Sea of the Moon’ to Tahiti’s small sister Moorea this morning. Even though Moorea is very close to the main island, it appears to be very different, very laid back and sleepy. As it was raining the afternoon with thunderstroms, we also were very laid back and lazy. Just now – us still standing in the rain- the sun came out and we saw this incredible Polynesian sunset! Beautiful!
