What we felt most today was COLD. Kanazawa in the mountains has much lower temperatures than Tokyo, hence we put on all our clothing to discover the city at 4 degree C. At least it was not raining, as Kanazawa is very famous for its high rainfall. A local proverb says: “even if you forget your lunchbox, don’t forget your umbrella.” (and of course also for umbrellas there is a specific place to leave and lock them in public spaces..)

We went to see this lovely Japanese Kenroku-en Garden, one of Japan’s “great three” gardens, the Kanazawa Castle and well preserved Geishas and Samurai districts. Also visited a former Geisha house which looked exactly as I imagined with wooden-lattice windows and dimmed lighting. Full of atmosphere.
