Our next stop and definitely one of Namibia’s highlights was the Etosha National Park! We entered the park at the east entrance, stayed three nights at different lodges along the way inside the park and finally left from the south-east gate.

Etosha’s landscape generally consists of little or low vegetation, which was very favourable for watching wildlife. Also, the ‘Etosha Pan’ itself is an immense, flat, saline desert (5000 sq km) within the National Park which will be converted into a shallow lagoon only during rainy season. As its surrounding provides a very nourishing habitat for wildlife, we saw an incredible number of animals- and not two by two, but in the hundreds even in herds of thousands (no kidding!) passing by or resting around one the waterholes. During our three days of safari we saw elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, zebras, springboks, blue wildebeests (Streifengnu), oryx antelopes, kudus,warthogs (Warzenschwein), black-backed jackals and ostriches…an amazing experience!

Also, in Namibia, we are spoilt with a good dosis of beautiful sunrises and sunsets every and every day again. Not to forget the perfect starry sky and fullmoon while watching a big family of elephants, baby elephants and giraffes drinking from the waterhole!! Really gives you goosebumbs..
